Steve Smith currently serves as Vice President for the Rochester Data Science Consortium. In this role, Steve acts as the Consortium’s primary point of contact with all industry and government partners, collaborating with our team to expand the Consortium’s industry reach, develop new sources of research funding, and maintain the Consortium’s ongoing partnerships.
Formally, Steve served as the Director of Business Development, Strategy and Partnerships for Harris Geo-spatial Solutions Business Unit. In this role he is focused on business strategies, investments, business development, and technical leadership to grow Harris Capabilities and Business within the Geospatial Market.
Mr. Smith has 25 years’ experience working in the Geospatial and Aerospace Industry and has held a variety of positions during his career to include Business Development Director, Business P/L Director, Account Manager, Program Manager, and Research Scientist. Mr. Smith has spent his career leading the development of Advanced Geospatial and Data Science Technologies with applications in the Remote Sensing and Aerospace Industry.
Mr. Smith holds a M.S. in Optics from the University of Rochester, and an B.S. in Engineering Physics from Cornell University.
